Heather Gray is an artist living in Vermont. Working primarily in Photography, her work is driven from her personal experience as a woman, mother and housewife. Her process involves a search for language that explores the themes of identity and gender and the discrepancies between prescribed social roles and private realities. Her work engages with the myriad ways in which women and the body are depicted by the mass media through powerful images that represent the notion of beauty, consumerism and the role of women in society. Drawing on traditional feminist theory and using herself as a model, she participate in a particular mode of performative artistic production.
